Diligence. That is my name for 2011.
The definition for diligence is careful and persistent work or effort.
As an adjective, it describes a person having or showing care and conscientiousness in one’s work or duties.
Similar words include conscientiousness, hard work, application, concentration, effort, care, meticulousness, thoroughness.
Also, perseverance, persistence, tenacity, dedication, commitment, tirelessness.
According to my iMac’s thesaurus, the antonym for diligent is lazy.
My goal for 2011 is to be diligent. I have some areas I want to work on, but God keeps bringing me to Matthew 6:33 – “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” These are the areas I want to work on:
- Reading the Word daily
- Relationships (Jesus, my husband and my children top the list)
- Counting my blessings
- Working my list
- Blogging to work out my faith (Philippians 2:12)
- Photography
- Sewing
So that is my theme for 2011. I am working out some tangible goals for some of these, which I’ll share when they are finished. One of which has to do with regular blogging. I rocked out 16 posts in 2010, just over 1 per month. I’d like to at least double that.
Here’s to another great year!
Vicki
P.S. I wrote this and then found a blog that links up with blog posts about scripture. Since I’ve been meditating on Matthew 6:33, I thought it would be appropriate to link up. You can see more posts at Mom’s Mustard Seed.

Diligence is a wonderful goal for 2011. I am striving for diligence in my life too, although I hadn’t thought about it in just those terms.
Thanks for the thought-provoking post!

Vicki, I so value your word. Diligence. Isn’t that really the essence of what is asked of us? To persevere… to move forward… to have faith. I look at your images and I see the power of an amazing God. Beautiful!

Susan, you are so right. Thank you for the comment on the photos, that is the ultimate compliment and goal. To glorify Him. Thank you for the encouragement.
