We are almost finished with 10 Days of One Word! Can you believe it? We have three posts left – turning your One Word into action, other One Word resources, and the post where I’ll finally tell you my One Word. Today, though, we are going to talk about three words that you do NOT want to use. Today’s post will be relatively short and sweet.
Have you ever paid attention to how much clutter can literally suck the life out of you? Now that I realized how it makes me feel, it drives me insane. I just wish I could learn to manage it better at a quicker pace. Recovering from a pack-rat mindset and a organization system that revolved around piles takes a while.
Some words to battle clutter – Neat. Clean. Order. Simple. Calm. Clear.
2. Busy
I’ve come to realize that I do not like busy. Busy means that I don’t have the flexibility of time when something unexpected comes up. I like flexibility, which mean you should, too. Ahem. Seriously though, if you are too busy to spend time with your family as a family, you are too busy in general. Make your family a priority, they won’t be there forever.
Words to fight the busy – Free. Available. Present. Here.
3. Hurry
Nothing stifles creativity like hurry. Nothing brings temper tantrums and behavior problems with kids like hurry. Yep, I know this. You couple my penchant for procrastination with my disdain for routine and you do not get anywhere on time. I’ve come to loathe this. Sprinkle on a little bit of kids mirroring my habits and I’m surprised I have any hair left on my head. So in summary, hurry = not good.
Words to slow down the hurry – Slow. Steady. Steadfast.
See? Short and sweet.
