12 Fun Free Fonts

If you follow me on Pinterest, you know that I like fonts. I pin those to my Bloggy Stuffs board, in case you would like to know. Here are 12 fun fonts you can download for free.

To use these on a Mac, dowload to your Fonts folder (Library>Fonts). If it was a Zip file, then navigate to the folder and double click on it to open the font. If it was a TTF file or such, just put it in the folder. That’s it. You can then use the fonts in Pages or Photoshop or whatever you use pretty fonts for.

If you use a Windows based system, I’m not sure how it works for you, but a quick Google should solve that.

Click on the name below the graphic to go to each font.

So, About That

It’s funny how some time away from something can give you perspective. In the time our computer was down, I was unable to blog, check my email, and read blogs in my blog reader. I was able to pin things on Pinterest, post to Facebook and Twitter, and share photos through Instagram (which is apparently something I can not do with my desktop). All of these were made possible through my hubby’s iPod Touch and fun, free apps. I came to realize how much I enjoy the connections the Internet brings into my daily life.

Connecting with friends and family that I would otherwise see a few times a year. Having communities of support to go to when I have a question or when learning something new.

The simple ability to answer my son’s many science related questions via our good friend The Google is enough to warrant the slightly ridiculous cost of high speed internet.

What does this have to do with you? Well, I had time to think about the things I do. I realized that I wanted my blog to be like the blogs I enjoy (except, you know, be mine).

I have some things I’m going to write about, probably in series form. I just wanted to let you know ahead of time. I’m aware that not everything I write about will pertain to you, but I do hope you stick around for those that do. I will be sharing gratuitous cute baby pics and THAT pertains to everyone, right? And when I say baby pics, I’m including these little monsters, too:

I’m also hoping to change the design of my blog around some to make it easier to navigate. This will be a work in progress because 1. I do not have the money to pay for a custom design and 2. the HTML coding I know is from over 5 years ago. In other words, it is completely useless. I have details sketched out on paper, it will just take a while for me to turn them into a purty blog design.

So that’s about it…for now.

Great Break Everyone, Let’s Get Back to Work

alternate titles for this post – Morning Sickness Bites, Glad it Appears to be Gone; Hello, Morning (Sickness) Glory; and I Hate Throwing Up

Apparently the creative forces at work within me are a little tied up right now.

Friends Forever and Ever

Two things to tell you this evening.

  1. I’ve had a hard two weeks with morning, noon, night sickness that sometimes comes with pregnancy. It started with nausea and ended with me 6 pounds lighter. Silver lining – I met my May weight loss goal times two (don’t worry, the trend seems to have hit a screeching halt since I have been able to eat again).
  2. I am so unbelievably thankful for my husband and those who have been praying for me.

Usually for me, whatever form of morning sickness I have sticks with me the entire nine months. For those curious, #1 was morning, noon, night can’t keep anything down; #2 was a little nausea in the morning, gone by lunch; and #3 was a little more nausea that sometimes hung around past lunch.

So I am rejoicing in the fact that while I was so sick these past two weeks, Friday seemed to turn a corner for me. I haven’t thrown any food or drink up. Wohoo! And the nausea seems to be minimal.

I can not tell you how thankful I am for those who have told me they were praying for me. This past Wednesday I was laying in bed composing an email plea for prayer to our church’s prayer chain in my head, but since I didn’t have the energy to actually sit at the computer and type it all out, it remained a theoretical plea.

Then today I had at least three people tell me they were praying for me. I checked my Twitter feed and saw that some of my online friends also sent word that they were praying.

I am one blessed woman.

I am so thankful.

God is good.

Screen Free Week – Unplugging

I was starting to think that God was leading me to unplug for a set time. It seems God is working on addictions in my life. First we started with chocolate, which is going well. Then I started to realize that my go-to for any spare minute was the computer, rarely the television. So I’m hoping to start retraining my brain to look elsewhere when I have a “free” minute.

Then I came across the post 20 Tips for Screen-Free Week at Simple Kids. Screen-Free week is next week, which is a perfect timing confirmation for myself since I was thinking of going unplugged for Passover, which I will not be so blasphemous as to compare my going unplugged with Christ’s suffering. There is no comparison.

So, I will not be online until the Monday after Easter. I have a couple things scheduled here and on the Vicki Arnold blog Facebook page in that time, but new commenter comments will not be moderated and emails/Facebook messages will not be answered until then.

I have big plans for this week. I decided we will take the week off from school because we are actually AHEAD of schedule. Really not sure how that happened, but I’m liking it.

A few things I’m hoping to accomplish:

1. Fix my laundry room, it looks like a box of clothes (clean and dirty) exploded.

2.  Make bracelets with my kiddos for Project #12 at Craft Hope.

3.  Write out some blog posts that have been swimming in my head for a while. On paper. With a pen.

4.  Tie up all my loose garden ends before we dig into the REAL work of filling/prepping the beds.

5.  Take lots of photographs. Sew several birthday gifts. Make more items for Leapin’ Lilies. Hammer out some details on a project I would like to undertake.

I’m looking forward to a productive and fun week. My son committed today to go three months without playing the Wii. I was impressed he wanted to choose such a long time, but he was sure and I was proud of my boy.

Allow Me to Shed Some Light on the Situation

Life has been busy, some good, some ridiculous.  I’ve written many posts in the past two months…in my head.  I’ve looked at my life, lost my focus, re-focused and moved on.  We are working on some DIY home projects before the garden season kicks into gear.  Mostly, I’ve thought a lot about my role in life.  I’ll probably share more detail, but right now, I’m just letting you know that I’m here.  Pressing in, pressing on.
